Students in the History + Theory of Design 2 course (ID162) in the University of Kentucky School of Interiors can contribute to this SPACES + PLACES project as part of an assignment for the course. Students research a design site somewhere on the globe and report out on ten themes of exploration (principles + elements of design, connections to other scales of design, materials, light and color, experience, theories, technology, finishes, furnishings, and telling stories). For each of these ten categories, students provide an image to represent the theme and write a short paragraph about the connection of the site to the theme. For a course centered on understanding some of the many voices of design, their contributions here represent their own views about the designs they encounter. Enjoy their explorations in this online publication.
