Introduction

Whether someone completes their PhD as an online or full residency degree, the academic library system associated with their program will become a permanent part of their history and career as a researcher. This module encourages you to develop a sense of belonging and connection with your doctoral library system, which is the University of Kentucky Libraries. You will learn how to manage the research protocols necessary to take advantage of all the UK Libraries resources and services that are made available to PhD students at the University of Kentucky.

 

Outcomes

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Contact the subject librarian for the University of Kentucky College of Fine Arts Department of Arts Administration
  • Complete a checklist that contains library accounts for requesting materials, accessing subscription databases and journals, and using interlibrary loan
  • Discuss the economies and philosophies academic libraries employ in their missions to provide information access to researchers
